There was a time that I chronicled every month of Astrid’s young life. Some of my favorites are here and here. I cannot believe how bald that child was.
(awesomely exposed snow picture with no editing.ahem.if I do say so myself)
And since monthly updates now seem ridiculous I thought it was okay just this once to document what she is doing as today she is fully two and a half.
Likes: Sushi, cats, books, games, CANDYLAND – ONE MORE TIME MAMA! Trains, cars, buses, Zambonis(OBSESSED WITH THEM), hair bows, marshmallows, hats, gymnastics, her thumb, music, layering sweaters(okay, I like them maybe more),lettuce, talking to ‘Ben’ the dog on my iPhone, D’amico’s penne pasta, pushing shopping carts, going down slides, DOING EVERYTHING MYSELF MAMA!, ignoring strangers who talk to her, painting, trying my coffee, baking, singing, Little People, sisters, Katy Perry.
Dislikes: When I’m on the computer, taking showers when the soap gets in her eyes, vacuum cleaners, bananas, chocolate ice cream, when her cats steal her toys, orange cheese, socks on when she sleeps, when I leave, sleds, going far away from home, when people talk to me, when someone sits on my lap that isn’t her, hot food.
I have to say I love this age. I love two year olds. It’s the three year olds that usually challenge my patience. So I know how much I need to enjoy the next six months.
Happy Half, Astrid.

Amen to the three year olds and their “oh my” factor.
But we need to talk about her dislike for chocolate ice cream.
{Stunning photos, adorable Astrid!}
xo
I know – like who orders vanilla? Oh wait…I do.
We need to work on that. Unless you can approve red wine or yoga pants. Throw me a bone here, girl.
i totally agree on the two year old thing – ella just turned two in november and of course has her terrible two moments, but she is doing SO many cute things! she’s really opening up and changing – becoming this funny little person. my favorite time of day now is putting her to bed. i just love hearing new words come out of her mouth!
I know – somehow I want to just bottle-up ‘two’ – it’s wonderful. Magical.
She doesn’t like chocolate ice cream because she would rather have rocky road, right? RIGHT?
OMG marshmallows in ice cream just freaks me the hell out.
This is a great idea Tracy. A list she will love reading, when she is old enough too. Likely in six months.
Dana
She has many similar dislikes to my Monkey. I need them to meet. Like, now.
Happy 2 1/2, Astrid! (how do you like your Mama’s coffee?)
They are going to marry, yes?
My two year old loves sushi too! I thought it was strange, but I guess he is normal. I love her little snow suit, I wonder if I can get one in pink like that.
You would be adorable in a pink snowsuit!
Yes, Yes, I agree. She is precious.
I 100% agree—2 was my fav age with Caroline, and I love Sydney at 2, also! Three was much, much more challenging—it was like a switch went off in Caroline THE DAY she turned three, too! I only have 5 more months of age two, also! Wah! Like you said, gotta enjoy every second of it. Sydney is a real cuddle bug, too—makes 2 even better than normal!
I’d have to agree with Astrid, I don’t like getting soap in my eyes either! For a two and a half year old, she definitely knows what she likes and doesn’t like!
Two and a half in March, the boy is the only of my three who will eat chocolate ice cream. Buy Neopolitan and those girls eat around the chocolate so that there’s just a hunk of brown left. And the talking! Gah! He cracks me up every day with something new. I know 3 is gonna be outrageous.
I doubt Astrid could get cuter. Seriously.
So funny – I eat around the chocolate too..
She is a DOLL! Love her puffy suit.
And why can’t the kids LIKE us when we’re on the computer? It would make things so much easier.
I know, right. We need some kind of a 12 step program for them to accept this.
I agree that two is great. Three years-old is much more challenging. I love her like and dislike lists!
In a few months, I’ll have two, two-year-olds. I have to say that I’m loving the one right now.
I just worry about just how much my 1 ½ year old enjoys the word “no” right now.
You will LOVE 2 twos.
The kid likes sushi. What a kid.
That first photo is just heartbreakingly cute!
Why do kids hate it so when we are on the computer?! It’s fun on there.
I am in love with her love for zambonis. I never knew how entertaining they were. I’m seeing a lot lately – with all the hockey sessions we’re attending. Good think I like ‘em
I loved 3 and a half. For my kids. Two SUCKED.
I know – aren’t Zambonis amazing! They are my favorite part of hockey.
Ooooh that little girl is adorable and she has such fantastic character!!!! She is keeping you young my friend.
She is so adorable! I just love those piercing blue eyes. I do miss that age.
Your little snow bunny is adorable and your photos rock. It’s going WAY too fast isn’t it? And I KNOW what you mean about 3 year olds but I’ve never had a 3 year old girl. It’s really easy, right?
;P
She is beautiful & those photos are awesome!!
Yes, we are nearing the 3 year mark & the tantrums are getting into full gear…there is a twitch in my eye that becoming increasingly present…oh, but he’s still so darn cute…and he knows it!
I have never done this with my kids (the chronicles) and it makes me regret it. How cute!
Maybe she’s destined to be a skater.
Vivian’s only 6-ish months younger than Astrid (which is why they – and we – clearly need to be BFFs), so this already sounds very familiar. And so far, I’m loving 2. Sure, the tantrums can be epic, but she also has an awareness of her behavior now and, as a result, for consequences. And frankly, I’m finding that to be pretty damn awesome!
And on the cute side of the spectrum, there’s the language explosion and the talking and the learning of new things and delighting in ALL of them (even opening and closing a DVD case 37 times) and the hugs and kisses – oh, the hugs and kisses.
Yeah, I’m loving 2.
